Here is a list of some useful and even unusual ways to develop more on your genealogy and family history. Name sites are a dime a million. Scooping names of the web is “research” the same way that tilting your head and walking through a library’s shelves is “research”.

After using the most likely sources for census, vital records, obituaries, and the other standard Good Things we genealogists search for, try some of these sites for amusement, edification, or to use time until your favorite TV show comes on.

  7. Genealogy on RSS - (RSS is an acronym for Rich Site Summary, an XML format for distributing news headlines on the Web, also known as “really simple syndication”. Started by Netscape as part of the My Netscape site, expanded through Dave Winer and Userland. RSS started off in an RDF format).
