New York State Genealogical Societies

The Central New York Genealogical Society (CNYGS) was formed in 1961 for the purpose of preserving, publishing and sharing genealogical information and resources. It has published Tree Talks, a highly respected, 64-page quarterly. Tree Talks is a valuable source of information on tens of thousands of people who lived in upstate New York. Each issue contains abstracts of significant records from upstate New York counties and is fully indexed, annually.

The Genesee Area Genealogists is a social organization of people from
Genesee and Wyoming counties as well as many others from around the country and the world.

They meet on the third Tuesday each month (Feb.through Nov.) at 7:00 pm

Ogden Farmers' Library Genealogy Group

Meetings are held the third Tuesday of the month at 7 pm. No December meeting.

Ontario County Genealogical Society

The OCGS in cooperation with the Ontario County  Historical Society seeks to assist those conducting research on families in Ontario County, New York. 

Meetings are the first Wednesday of the month at  7:00 pm at the Ontario County Historical Society Museum, 55 North Main St., Canandaigua, NY 14424. A list of their current programs is found here.


Polish Genealogical Society of New York State

Meetings are held the second Thursday 7:00 pm
Location: Erie 1 BOCES, 355 Harlem Road, West Seneca NY


Triangle Tract Genealogical Society

Meetings are held the  first Tuesday of the month 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm.

Western New York Genealogical Society
Focuses on the eight counties of Western New York - Erie, Niagara, Genesee, Wyoming, Orleans, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus and Allegany.

Third Saturday of the month during March, April, May, September, October and November.

Wayne County Genealogical Society

Meeting location is at the Newark-Arcadia Historical Society & Museum, 120 High Street, Newark, NY.
