RGS Members Honored
Two Members Elected to RGS Honor Roll
Long-time members Peter Bush and Larry Naukam will be inducted into the RGS Honor Roll at our annual picnic on Tuesday, June 13th.
Peter Bush is a founding member of RGS, and since 1977 has served the Society in several official capacities including:
- President from 1982 to 1984
- Treasurer from 2004 to 2010
- Historian/Genealogist from 2014 to the present
- member or chair of the RGS nominating, program, membership, bylaws and finance committees.
Peter has given many presentations to RGS, CIG, and Writers Group. He was instrumental in organizing and conducting the RGS retreat in 2007, the 70th anniversary celebration in 2008, and the RGS one-week research trips to Salt Lake City in 2011 and 2012. He served multiple years as RGS delegate to the Federation of Genealogical Societies (FGS) and the New York Council of Genealogical Societies (NYSCOGO). Peter prepared handouts for RGS meetings from 2010 to the pandemic shutdown. His other contributions to the genealogical community include speaking at one-day conferences sponsored by the Westfall Road Family Search Center and the Rochester Central Library, and volunteering weekly at the Westfall Road Family History Center since 2001,
Since 1978 Larry has served RGS in several official capacities including:
- Historian/Genealogist from 2012 to 2015
- First Vice President from 2015 to 2017
- President from 2017 to 2023
- Rochester Central Library liaison
- Social Media Chair from 2016 to the present.
Larry also was a presenter at the FGS/RGS national conference in Rochester in 1996 and has given many presentations at meetings of RGS and other historical and genealogical societies. He was also an active member of the Church Records Preservation Committee. Larry wrote many articles for the Hear Ye Hear Ye and other genealogical publications. He co-authored the book, Location of Cemeteries and Cemetery Records of Monroe County, New York (2006). He volunteered at the Kreag Road Family Search Center for many years.
Larry worked as librarian and head of the Local History and Genealogy Room at the Rochester Central Library.
