Native American Heritage Month Resources
The National Genealogical Society (NGS) is pleased to honor our country's Indigenous Peoples as we celebrate Native American Heritage Month. We hope the resources listed below will help with your genealogy and family history research or be useful information to share with others.
 
The Library of Congress is hosting a Native American Heritage Month website with support from National Archives and Records Administration, National Endowment for the Humanities, National Gallery of Art, National Park Service, Smithsonian Institution, and United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.
 
US Department of the Interior provides the Trace Indian Ancestry page as a guide that discusses how to begin research if you are tracing American Indian or Alaska Native ancestry.
 
Ancestry has a downloadable PDF available on Researching Your American Indian Ancestors on Ancestry.
 
Cyndi’s List offers links to a number of resources for Native American and First Nations research.
